"Good governance is the foundation on which a society is built, and thus it is indispensable for the development of a country. For German development policy the promotion of good governance and the protection of human rights are a priority as well as a cross-cutting issue. Because governance and human rights will remain particularly important even after 2015, we support the United Nation’s global thematic consultation on these issues."
- Dirk Niebel, German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development
The final meeting of the Global Thematic Consultation on Governance and the Post-2015 Development Framework is taking place from 28 February to 1 March 2013 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The meeting is hosted by the Pan-African Parliament.

African Regional Dialogue on Governance and the Post-2015 Framework
The African Regional Dialogue, co-led by UNDP and OHCHR, and hosted by the Pan-African Parliament, took place on 11-12 October 2012 in Midrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
The event aimed to stimulate dialogue and collect views, experiences and perspectives of civil society, policy makers and governance practitioners from the African region to contribute to the emerging development framework. It built on UNDP’s experience on the MDGs and affirmed that sustained progress towards development goals must be underpinned by strong democratic governance mechanisms and people’s participation in decision-making processes.
